FC Bayern will face 1. FC Magdeburg at home in the second round of the DFB Cup. This sets the next hurdle for the Munich team on their path to defending their title.
Now the next challenge awaits in the form of the second-division side from Magdeburg. The matchup was drawn by Bayern legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, who won numerous titles with FC Bayern—including seven DFB Cups.
Bayern aims to defend the cup
For the Munich team, the title is once again on the line this season. Last season, the record champions capped off their cup campaign with a triumph in the final against VfB Stuttgart. Bayern prevailed 3–0 in the final and were subsequently able to lift the DFB Cup.

The goal is to repeat that cup victory this season. Alongside the Bundesliga and the Champions League, the DFB Cup is one of Munich’s major objectives. It is therefore crucial for Kompany and his team to take the next step in the second round as well.
With Magdeburg now confirmed as their opponent, Bayern will battle it out to advance to the round of 16.
