Nicolas Jackson’s future at FC Bayern seemed to have already been decided. The Munich club wanted to let the on-loan striker go at the end of the season – the purchase option seemed too high, the overall package too unclear. But now there is movement in the personnel matter, as Vincent Kompany of all people is apparently hoping for a turnaround
As the British Sun reports, the Bayern coach is a great admirer of the 24-year-old and would like to keep him in Munich beyond the summer. A clear statement – especially in view of the fact that the club management has so far been on a farewell course
From a sporting point of view, Jackson certainly has arguments in his favor. In 28 appearances, the Senegalese has scored 13 goals – and that with just 1061 minutes of action. An impressive rate that shows how efficient the attacker is as Harry Kane’s backup
Price remains the biggest problem
Despite these figures, there are major reservations internally. The main reason is the price-performance ratio. The purchase option is around 60 million euros – a sum that Bayern are currently not prepared to pay
Added to this is the high salary: at an estimated €14 million a year, Jackson is not exactly one of the cheapest options for the role behind Kane
With this in mind, an alternative solution is now being discussed. According to the report, another loan could be a realistic scenario to keep Jackson at FC Bayern for the time being
However, there have been no concrete talks so far – neither with the player nor with Chelsea FC. Sky also confirms that no such negotiations are currently underway
Bayern looking for a long-term solution

Regardless of Jackson, Munich’s strategic direction remains clear: the club wants to fill the backup role behind Kane on a long-term basis – ideally with a player who is capable of developing and could even succeed him in the future
Whether Jackson fits this profile is apparently viewed differently internally, with Kompany relying on his qualities while those responsible have economic and strategic concerns
The coming weeks are likely to be decisive, but one thing is clear: the door for him to stay is not completely closed – especially thanks to Kompany
It remains to be seen whether there will actually be a surprising turnaround in the end or whether Bayern will take a different path after all.
