Speculation is once again swirling around Lennart Karl’s future at FC Bayern. Following his strong breakthrough last season, the 18-year-old is currently going through a slump. Most recently, even honorary president Uli Hoeneß publicly criticized the youngster. Now, several top European clubs are reportedly closely monitoring the development of this offensive talent. A possible departure in the summer of 2027 appears to be on the table.
As reported by the British website TEAMtalk, three Premier League clubs are showing interest in Karl. According to the report, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have the Bayern youngster on their radar. Initial exploratory talks are said to have already taken place.
But interest is apparently high not only in England. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are also said to be monitoring the situation of the young German player. However, no concrete negotiations regarding a transfer have been reported so far.
English clubs are monitoring Karl’s situation
The latest developments at Bayern Munich could play into the hands of interested clubs. Karl drew attention to himself with strong performances last season, but has so far been unable to build on that following his muscle injury this summer.
So far this season, the attacking player has started only three times. His offensive output has also been modest, with one goal and one assist.
Added to this is public criticism from Uli Hoeneß. The Bayern chairman recently made it clear that Karl is far from being a superstar and needs to show more humility. He also announced that he would have a serious one-on-one conversation with the 18-year-old.
According to TEAMtalk, Hoeneß’s comments could further fuel the transfer rumors. As early as the beginning of October, Sport BILD had already discussed the youngster’s possible departure.
There also appears to be internal criticism of Karl.

According to information from BILD, Karl’s development and behavior are also the subject of critical discussion within FC Bayern. Apparently, this isn’t solely about his on-field performance. In particular, the 18-year-old’s social media activities are said to be met with little enthusiasm by some club officials.
Karl regularly posts on platforms like TikTok and, together with his girlfriend Zoe Käppele, offers glimpses into his private life. According to the report, this public behavior is viewed quite critically within the club.
However, sporting director Max Eberl demonstratively stood behind the youngster on Saturday.
“We are 100 percent certain that he will return to his previous level and take his next steps from there,” the 53-year-old explained.
For Eberl, the current slump in form is part of the normal development of a young professional. Furthermore, he noted that Karl missed the World Cup due to an injury he sustained over the summer.
The departure of this talented forward is therefore by no means a done deal. The Munich club continues to believe in his athletic development. However, should the difficulties persist, speculation about a transfer next summer could gain further momentum.
