FC Bayern is playing an away game tonight in the UEFA Champions League against the Norwegian team Viking Stavanger. The record champions are looking to secure their second win in their second match.
Following the 2-2 draw at FC Augsburg over the weekend, Bayern is hoping the team will have a better day and, above all, eliminate individual mistakes. Additionally, more efficiency in the attacking third would be desirable.
As usual, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany didn’t give too much away at the press conference when asked about the lineup. It was clear that Jonas Urbig would play because Manuel Neuer has a minor foot injury.
FC Bayern: This team will start in Stavanger
Right at the start of this busy stretch with back-to-back matches, it’s important for Bayern to get back into their rhythm immediately. That’s why no one expected Coach Kompany to make many changes here. Over the weekend, the players’ physical condition was certainly not the problem.

Nevertheless, it’s the record champions’ clear plan to utilize the entire roster during this phase of the season and give every player the opportunity to prove themselves. So, minor adjustments to the starting lineup were a realistic possibility going in.
FC Bayern’s starting lineup has now been announced. As expected, Urbig will start in goal. In front of him is a back four consisting of Konrad Laimer, Minjae Kim, Jonathan Tah, and Nathaniel Brown. In midfield, Tom Bischof joins the lineup, while Lennart Karl starts up front. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz will play alongside the youngster.
This also means that Olise will likely play in the playmaker position—or at least be seen there more often, alternating with Karl.
