Nick Woltemade and FC Bayern—will they end up working together after all? In the summer of 2025, the Munich club made an intensive push to sign the German forward. However, the transfer fell through due to VfB Stuttgart’s asking price. Instead of moving to Munich, Woltemade joined Newcastle United for 75 million euros.
A little over a year later, the situation has changed dramatically. After a promising start, the 24-year-old was unable to establish himself permanently in England. Woltemade is now playing on loan for Juventus Turin—but things haven’t gone entirely according to plan in Italy either.
Transfer insider Andy Brassell therefore believes that the player Bayern once wanted could still end up at Säbener Straße at some point.
“I still believe that Woltemade will end up at FC Bayern at some point. Even before Newcastle, people were convinced he would move there. And he’s also had a difficult start at Juventus—it’s been a pretty chaotic situation,” Brassell explained in an interview with talkSPORT.
Bayern could make another move for Woltemade
Brassell’s assessment of the potential transfer fee is particularly interesting. Woltemade’s rocky career path could present FC Bayern with a long-term opportunity to sign the player they once coveted for significantly less than they would have to pay in 2025.
“I think Bayern Munich will be watching this and thinking, ‘We might be able to sign this player—whom we really wanted—at some point in the future for a song.’”
Whether Munich actually continues to have concrete interest in Woltemade remains to be seen, however. There are currently no ongoing negotiations or a new push from the record champions. Brassell’s statements are, rather, an assessment of how the situation might develop.
talkSPORT is also bringing up the German national team player as a potential successor to Harry Kane. This scenario, too, is purely speculative at this point. Kane is under contract with FC Bayern through 2027 and is already in talks about an extension.
Woltemade gets his next chance at Juventus
For Woltemade, the immediate priority is to improve his playing situation in Turin. The 24-year-old has yet to make a strong impression at Juventus and has recently faced sharp criticism from the Italian media.
Coach Luciano Spalletti is nevertheless standing by him. According to reports in *Gazzetta dello Sport*, Woltemade could make his first start for the Turin club in the Europa League opener against NEC Nijmegen. A two-man strike partnership with Randal Kolo Muani is even a possibility.
For Woltemade, a strong performance would be an opportunity to temporarily quell the speculation surrounding his future. Whether this will eventually lead to a new opportunity with Bayern remains to be seen.
One thing is clear, however: The record champions were already eager to sign Woltemade once before. Should the 24-year-old actually become available on significantly more favorable terms in the future, the transfer could once again become a topic of interest in Munich.
