Bayern president Herbert Hainer is now trying to put the concerns into perspective: „There are no concerns because there is very close coordination between the medical departments of FC Bayern and Canada,“ the 71-year-old told BILD
At the same time, Hainer made it clear that Davies himself is very realistic about the situation. „Of course he has a huge desire to play for his country at the World Cup, but he also knows very well that he still has many years ahead of him and that he has to put his health above everything else,“ emphasized the Bayern president
Bayern does not want to take any risks
The situation is still being monitored very closely at Säbener Strasse and, according to the club, Bayern’s medical staff are in constant contact with the Canadian association to decide on the next steps together
Internally, it seems clear that a hasty return should be avoided at all costs
Despite all the concerns, there is still plenty of time for Davies. There are still several weeks to go before the start of the World Cup. Even if the Canadian were to miss the entire preparation, a later start to the tournament would still be possible
However, one thing is also clear: FC Bayern will do everything in its power to ensure that Davies remains fully fit in the long term – even if, in case of doubt, sporting compromises are necessary at the World Cup.
