After FC Bayern announced that Neuer would have to take a break for the time being due to muscular problems, the goalkeeper has now spoken out himself.
In the last Bundesliga match of the 25/26 season, Manuel Neuer had to be substituted in the 60th minute. Shortly before the championship celebrations on Sunday,FC Bayern then announced that the goalkeeper would have to take a short break for the time being. During the championship celebrations, Neuer himself then commented on his state of health.
„I just felt something in my left side and I already had a small calf problem. I just didn’t want to take any more risks. That’s why I left the pitch. I didn’t mind the beer showers,“ Neuer explained with a wink.
The goalkeeper made it clear that, in his own opinion, it was not a serious injury and that the decision to leave the pitch early was purely a precautionary measure so as not to risk another long break.
Nevertheless, the issue of Neuer remains a sensitive one. The Bayern captain has repeatedly struggled with injury problems in recent years, including longer periods of absence. The calf and muscular problems in this area in particular have repeatedly slowed Neuer down.
DFB Cup final in danger?
This makes the question of how serious the keeper’s injury really is all the more important for FC Bayern and the German national team. FC Bayern have the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart coming up next Saturday. It is still unclear whether Neuer will be fit to play.

Manuel Neuer could make his comeback to the national team for the World Cup. As Sky reported yesterday, Nagelsmann is planning to include Neuer as number 1. The national coach and Neuer himself avoided making any clear statements on the subject, but one thing is clear: if Neuer is not fit in time, he is definitely not an option for Nagelsmann, who will announce the World Cup squad on 21 May.
