Manuel Neuer has to sit out again following his foot injury. The Bayern captain has now addressed the fans with a personal message and is showing a fighting spirit.
Manuel Neuer has spoken out for the first time with a personal message following his latest injury. Despite this latest setback, the FC Bayern captain is looking ahead with determination. On Instagram, the goalkeeper announced that he would focus on his recovery and continue to support the team during his time off.
“An injury never comes at the right time, but it’s part of the game. I’ve been through this before and I’ll get through this situation as well,” Neuer wrote.
The 40-year-old must take another forced break following the 2-1 away win in Mainz. FC Bayern confirmed on Sunday that he had suffered a partial tendon tear in his right foot. The diagnosis came after Neuer was substituted due to injury shortly before halftime.
The captain had already missed several matches due to discomfort in that foot. After making his comeback in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid, he was back between the posts in the Bundesliga on Saturday. In the 44th minute, however, Jonas Urbig had to take over.
Neuer intends to support the team even during his absence.
For Neuer, recovery is now the top priority. “From now on, I need to focus entirely on my recovery. Until then, I’ll support the guys on the field wherever I can,” he explained in his post.
The Bayern captain also expressly thanked everyone for their support: “I’m very grateful for all your encouraging words.”

Neuer did not specify a date for his return. The club’s official statement also does not mention a specific recovery period. According to information from BILD, he is expected to be sidelined for about two months. However, when the goalkeeper will be fully fit again depends on how his recovery progresses.
This latest injury comes after a period in which his foot had already been causing him repeated problems. He reported feeling pain immediately after the victory over Atlético. Now he must once again prepare for his return.
Urbig will therefore take center stage for the upcoming games. Neuer’s backup has already stepped up on several occasions this season and also filled in at short notice in Mainz. While Urbig is expected to provide stability on the field, Neuer has announced that he will continue to support the team even during his own absence.
