Wiesinger as a key person
In Michael Wiesinger, the Munich club recently appointed a new Head of Sport and Youth Development to implement this vision. The former coach has extensive experience in Bavarian amateur soccer and is seen internally as a long-term solution
After several changes in this position since 2023, the club is hoping for one thing above all: continuity. Wiesinger is expected to leave a lasting mark on the campus and stabilize the strategic direction
The first building blocks of the new youth development strategy are already in place. Ex-professional Dante, a prominent name, has been hired as coach for the U23s. Although the decision was made before Wiesinger officially took office, it clearly fits in with the new approach

Criticism of predecessor as trigger
The reorientation is not without background. According to the Abendzeitung newspaper, there was recently criticism of Wiesinger’s predecessor Markus Weinzierl, whose contract was not extended. According to the newspaper, important issues in the youth sector were not sufficiently addressed
