“It would be a huge honor,” Kane said after yesterday’s Champions League match against Arsenal, referring to the potential award. Although the 33-year-old reiterated that he doesn’t like to talk about himself, he is nonetheless aware of the significance such an achievement would hold. “Of course, I know it would be a tremendous achievement if it actually happens,” the Bayern striker made clear.
The current season presents a special challenge for Kane. With important matches coming up, there’s little time to dwell on the personal award. Before the ceremony, the English national team player still has another league match on the schedule.
“Monday night is, of course, a big night that could be something very special for me personally. I’m looking forward to it,” Kane explained. For now, however, his focus is on the next competitive match. After that, he wants to enjoy the moment and, hopefully, savor the evening to the fullest.

Who ultimately wins this year’s Ballon d’Or will be revealed next Monday at the official ceremony in London. Kane understands why no one should know in advance, even though he himself would prefer to know sooner.
“They want everyone to come and for the big names to be there. Plus, more people will tune in if they don’t know beforehand. That’s why I can understand why they do it this way,” said the Bayern striker.
From a personal standpoint, an early announcement would be more convenient for him. “Of course, I’d like to know so I could just go there without having to wait all night. But it’s their decision, and I can’t influence it,” Kane explained. So he has no choice but to let the evening unfold and stay as calm as possible.

The fact that speculation surrounding the Ballon d’Or is intensifying ahead of the gala doesn’t necessarily make it easier for Kane to block out the topic. Nevertheless, he’s trying not to dwell too much on possible outcomes.
“I try not to think about it. Of course, that’s difficult. There are always rumors, and you try to stay away from them,” the forward explained. His upcoming matches with FC Bayern are his top priority right now.
On Monday, Kane plans to enjoy the special occasion as much as possible. Whether he’ll actually get to hold the Golden Ball in his hands remains to be seen until the announcement. For the Englishman, it would certainly be an extraordinary personal achievement.
