Luka Vuskovic is regarded as one of the most exciting defensive talents in Europe and has been linked with a possible move to FC Bayern for weeks. However, the 18-year-old himself is now putting the brakes on the speculation – and can even well imagine continuing to spend his future in Hamburg for the time being
In an interview with the Croatian website tportal, the central defender was asked directly about the rumors surrounding a possible summer transfer, with FC Bayern reportedly the favorites. Vuskovic reacted calmly and made it clear that other factors are currently in the foreground for him
„Yes, I’ve heard that. I don’t know what will happen, we’ll talk about that in the summer. I have a contract with Tottenham until 2030, so after the World Cup we’ll see what we do and what happens next,“ explained the defender
The Croatian is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur to Hamburger SV, where he has quickly become a permanent fixture. Despite interest from top international clubs, staying at HSV seems to be an attractive prospect for him. „As far as I’m concerned, I wouldn’t mind staying at HSV,“ said Vuskovic openly
One personal aspect in particular plays a major role in this. His brother Mario Vuskovic is due to return to the pitch in the autumn after his suspension. „My brother Mario should be able to play again in the autumn, then I would have the chance to play with him, which is my greatest wish at the moment,“ explained Luka Vuskovic. A joint chapter at HSV would therefore have enormous emotional value for him
Vuskovic: „You never know what will happen“
At the same time, the youngster made it clear that nothing can be planned in soccer. „You know how it is in soccer, you never know what will happen,“ Vuskovic continued. He therefore does not want to make a clear decision about his future until a later date

Although FC Bayern are keeping a close eye on Vuskovic’s name, those responsible have recently emphasized that their own squad structure is the first priority. Head of Sport Max Eberl had expressly praised the Croatian’s quality, but at the same time pointed out that Munich already have top-class defensive players
It is therefore clear that a move to Bayern is by no means off the table for Vuskovic, but is not currently a priority. There is much to suggest that the summer – and the time after the World Cup – will provide the decisive answers. Until then, the 18-year-old obviously feels comfortable at HSV and can well imagine continuing his development there.
