FC Bayern played against Arsenal on Wednesday evening and experienced a very intense match. The record champions and the reigning English champions ended the game with a 2-2 draw.
Without several key players, FC Bayern played with slightly less aggression and dominance than usual. Nevertheless, it was a game in which they created many chances of their own and could have scored one or two more goals in the end.
Still, given the circumstances, it wasn’t a bad performance by Bayern. After three matches in the Champions League, the record champions now have five points and still hold their fate entirely in their own hands.
Kompany largely satisfied with Bayern’s performance
Following the match against the Gunners, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany shared his thoughts on the game with DAZN. The Belgian had recently been sidelined due to a viral infection but was able to coach as usual today.
“We’re in a phase with a lot of games. We have to look ahead to the next game right away. They were a strong opponent, but we had our moments. We had some great chances—the kind I didn’t think we’d get that often,” Kompany explained.

The closing stages were a concern for the Bayern coach: “We struggled a bit in the final minutes, which is why Lucho Diaz had to come off again. The game was never over against them; their second goal was a bit of a shame for us. But it was a good game against a good opponent.”
Overall, though, Kompany was very satisfied with the result against one of Europe’s top teams.
“They pressed just as intensely as we did. We were dangerous, even if we didn’t always find the right moment to get behind their defense. We had two or three good chances where we got into their half with a numerical advantage. At times it was a good performance; at other times, Arsenal was better. Overall, it was an okay result,” the Bayern coach continued.
