The German national team has already been eliminated in the round of 32 from the XXL World Cup in North America. Of course, this falls short of their own expectations. This also has implications for FC Bayern.
The record champions will begin their preseason preparations on July 20. First on the agenda will be performance tests.
A week later, on July 27, a short training camp will begin at Lake Tegernsee. FCB expected that not many players from the first team would be there at that point.
No wonder, since only Manchester City sent more players to the World Cup than the record champions.
Bayern “benefits” from early DFB exit
But some of them have already been eliminated. The DFB contingent alone—including Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic, backup goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, and new signing Nathaniel Brown—is no longer in the tournament. The same goes for Josip Stanisic and Konrad Laimer. And those aren’t even all the Bayern stars who are no longer in the tournament.

Specifically, this means that the roster can be replenished earlier in the course of preseason training, and a group can form fairly quickly in which specific training content can be worked on.
This doesn’t mean that young talents won’t have a chance to prove themselves, since the World Cup players won’t be on the field when training begins. Exactly when that will happen will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
In any case, Kompany should be able to plan with a solid core of professionals sooner than originally expected. For the young players who want to make an impression during the preseason, this could even be an advantage, because training will have more intensity and the team’s automatic plays will be more evident on the field right from the start. This makes it easier to adjust to the highest level.
In that sense, the DFB elimination—once the players have mentally moved past it and are looking ahead after a break—could ultimately even be a slight advantage.
