FC Bayern go into the second leg against Real Madrid with a 2-1 lead – but the Whites are not content with that. Instead, coach Álvaro Arbeloa is apparently working on an unusual plan to surprise Munich at the Allianz Arena
As the Spanish portal Fichajes reports, Real are deliberately deviating from their usual system, not only because of their starting position after the first leg, but also due to the absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni, who is unavailable following his yellow card suspension
Unusual solution in midfield
Instead of replacing the Frenchman in the traditional way, Arbeloa is said to be considering a surprising option, which could see central defender Dean Huijsen move into midfield – a move that could have several effects
On the one hand, Real are hoping to gain more stability in the center, especially against the strong Bayern, and on the other, the additional heading power in midfield could help to better control second balls and defend set-pieces more effectively
At the same time, this measure would change the build-up play and create new dynamics – a deliberate risk to thwart Munich’s tactical preparation
Bayern as a benchmark – Real rely on courage

In the first leg, FC Bayern were in control for long stretches and dominated the game. Real were particularly dangerous in quick transition situations – which could be precisely where Arbeloa’s plan comes in
The Real coach made it clear after the first match that his team believed they could turn things around: „If any team can win in Munich, then it’s Real Madrid,“ he declared combatively
The strategy is clear: risk instead of control, surprise instead of routine. For FC Bayern, this means preparing for a possibly completely different Real than in the first leg
Despite their strong starting position, caution is advised – because the Whites have often proven that they are good for unexpected twists and turns, especially in the Champions League.
