After a six-year absence, FC Bayern have won the DFB Cup again with a 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart. The team led by Konrad Laimer and the well-known party cockatoo are now ready to celebrate
After winning the cup, FC Bayern’s cockatoo can look forward to another night of partying with the team. In an interview with ARD shortly after the final whistle, Konrad Laimer said: „He’s getting thirsty, like all of us. Now it’s time for us to get something to drink.“
FC Bayern well deserved the cold drinks and the upcoming celebrations this evening. With a highly committed performance, they secured a deserved 3-0 victory despite a tough battle against VfB Stuttgart. The reason for this? The great desire of the Munich team to lift the trophy in the air again after six years
Laimer also knows: „Everyone realizes how great this final is, winning this title here in Berlin. The whole atmosphere, everything around it. It’s amazing and really fun and should happen more often in the coming years – preferably every year.“
Laimer smiles about missed opportunity
Shortly after Harry Kane made it 1-0, Laimer himself had the chance to increase the score to 2-0. A shot parried by Alexander Nübel landed at the feet of the Austrian, but he scooped the leather over the empty goal. When asked what the miss was due to, Laimer jokingly replied: „It was so foggy, the whole thing. That’s how it was. Yes, madness. Fortunately everything turned out well.“
Laimer was alluding to the fog in the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the fans of both teams had set off a huge pyro show in their respective corners after half-time
Good for Laimer: „We have an Englishman up front who loves scoring goals. That’s why it’s madness. Of course I would have liked to have scored a goal too, but in the end we did, which is okay. And I’ll save the goal for another time. That’s fine,“ Laimer joked in conclusion.
