Concerns about Jamal Musiala are currently on FC Bayern’s mind. Against RB Leipzig and also against 1. FC Heidenheim, he collapsed on the field after coming on as a substitute. In both instances, he received medical attention and was substituted out. On Tuesday, he also announced his diagnosis.
Musiala suffers from so-called “absences,” during which he briefly loses consciousness and orientation. That’s why he appeared dazed, though in both cases he was able to leave the field on his own two feet.
Yesterday, Tuesday, there was still a lot of concern regarding Musiala, precisely because many things were uncertain—and in some cases still are. On Wednesday, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen provided an update on Musiala’s health.
Dreesen Talks About Musiala
On the sidelines of the Golden Boot award ceremony for Harry Kane at the Bayern Museum, Dreesen spoke not only about the star of the afternoon but also about the player causing concern, Musiala.
When asked by journalists, Dreesen explained: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with Jamal; we’re deeply concerned for him and wish him the very best. It’s our job, together with his doctors and his management, to do what’s best for him. He needs an environment that gives him the peace of mind to focus on himself and do what he loves most: playing soccer.”

He continued: “We’ve been aware of the situation for some time now. We’re in constant communication with his doctors, who have given the green light for him to play. So we’re all hoping that stability returns quickly and he gets back to his old form.”
But how was Musiala himself doing immediately after yesterday’s incident? “To be honest, I have to say that I didn’t see the player as being devastated. He’s clearly handling the situation well, as you can see from his statement. The player is handling it with absolute clarity and has the perspective that it can be treated with medication,” Dreesen continued.
