Bayern has a striker problem: Choupo Moting in danger of dropping out against Man City!

FC Bayern had to do without their striker Choupo Moting for the 1-0 revenge against SC Freiburg. The otherwise seeded Cameroonian is plagued by knee problems, as Thomas Tuchel confirmed at a press conference. The injury is also said to affect his chances of playing against Manchester City next Tuesday, which would mean that the Munich side would be offensively weakened going into the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League.

„It’s getting tight with Choupo, he’s not going with us to Freiburg now and will undergo treatment. Anything else would be speculation,“ the 49-year-old reported during the recent press conference. A loss of the 34-year-old could prove to be a real bad news for the German record champion. The only positional replacement, Mathys Tel is also not available. The talented striker had suffered a muscle fiber tear before Tuchel’s arrival. Thus, Tuchel will in all likelihood have to improvise at the nine position.

The current situation brings the striker issue of last summer back to the fore. They do have an in-form Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, but reinforcements are needed as the position is stretched too thin, as evidenced by the Cameroonian’s absence.
