On Tuesday evening, FC Bayern won 2-0 against Atlético in Madrid. The record champions thus celebrated a crucial victory in the Champions League.
After four games, Bayern now has eight points, and the record champions can certainly dream of advancing directly to the Round of 16.
FCB is certainly capable of securing the necessary points from its last four matches. Given the team’s current personnel challenges, the victory in Madrid is all the more important. Especially since Bayern didn’t allow many chances that evening at the Estadio Metropolitano and put on an outstanding performance.
Danks is highly satisfied with Bayern’s performance
Aaron Danks, who continues to fill in for Vincent Kompany as Bayern’s coach, was equally pleased.
“I’m very pleased with the team’s performance. It was very important that we kept a clean sheet here. We defended well as a unit. There’s been a lot of talk about Lennart Karl lately, but he scored a really nice goal, the way he chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. I didn’t see the goal celebration because I was celebrating myself, but we were all happy about the goal,” Danks explained after the game on Amazon Prime Video.

The current Bayern coach also raved about defender Dayot Upamecano: “I have to say that Upamecano’s performances are still underestimated. What he brings to the team is simply outstanding. He’s always there in the tackles. We see that in training, but he brings it to the games as well. It’s hard to single out any one player today because we came into such a stadium and dominated the opponent like that. That’s impressive. But sure, Upamecano has been absolutely strong in recent weeks.”
