In Saturday night’s match against Borussia Dortmund, three Bayern pros were injured. The diagnoses for Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry are now in.
Saibari was injured early in the game during a tackle with BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. The Moroccan forward severely twisted his ankle, had to be helped off the field, and was unable to put weight on his foot. He later left the Allianz Arena on crutches.
Based on this information alone, it was already clear that the new signing from PSV Eindhoven would be sidelined for an extended period. To make matters worse, Serge Gnabry also had to leave the field due to injury just a few minutes later; he was clutching his thigh.
Bayern Announces Diagnoses for Saibari and Gnabry
Both players have since undergone thorough examinations by the record champion’s medical staff, and their diagnoses have been confirmed. Saibari has suffered a torn syndesmotic ligament and has already undergone successful surgery, as confirmed by FCB. He will be out for a long time; a recovery period of at least three months is expected for such an injury.

However, the exact recovery process depends on several factors, and a longer layoff cannot be ruled out. First, the foot must be immobilized; afterward, rehabilitation can slowly begin.
Gnabry will also be unavailable for the time being. He has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the back of his thigh. It is unclear whether this is a torn muscle fiber or a more serious injury. For this reason, it is not possible to reliably estimate exactly how long the offensive player will be sidelined.
Michael Olise was the third player who had to leave the field early. Bayern were hoping that his injury was not serious. The press release made no mention of a diagnosis for the French player. This could either indicate a cautious all-clear or that the superstar is still undergoing diagnostic tests.
