Aleksandar Pavlovic thinks big. The FC Bayern midfielder has developed over the past few years from a homegrown talent into a regular starter and is now a fixture on the German national team.
But the 22-year-old isn’t content to rest on his laurels. In an interview with Sport BILD, Pavlovic spoke openly about his personal goals—and mentioned the highest individual honor in world soccer.
The conversation began with a question about Rodri. The Spaniard, who now plays for FC Barcelona, won the Ballon d’Or in 2024 as a defensive midfielder. Pavlovic sees this as a sign for players in his position.
“Absolutely! It’s a great sign that he won the Ballon d’Or as a defensive midfielder,” explained the Bayern player.
Pavlovic wants to establish himself among the world’s best
Pavlovic then made no secret of the fact that he, too, dreams of this award. “And I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t my dream to win the Ballon d’Or one day.”
For the 22-year-old, this dream is closely tied to his own development. Earlier in the interview, Pavlovic had already stated that comparisons to Rodri would be an honor. The Spaniard is a “top defensive midfielder” and “didn’t win the Ballon d’Or for nothing.”

Pavlovic sees this recognition as additional motivation. He clearly articulated his goal: “I want to keep improving and establish myself as a world-class player.”
The fact that the Bayern star exudes confidence is in keeping with his rise in the sport. Pavlovic is no longer just a talent from the club’s own youth system, but an integral part of Vincent Kompany’s team.
He’s setting the highest goals for himself at the club level as well. In an interview, the midfielder made it clear that Bayern wants to win everything this season: the German championship, the DFB Cup, and the Champions League.
