FC Bayern will face Bodo/Glimt at the Allianz Arena to kick off the new Champions League season. The match kicks off at 9:00 p.m., but the starting lineup has already been announced.
After a convincing Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart and a 4-1 victory over Osnabrück in the DFB Cup, FC Bayern had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Schalke in their most recent Bundesliga match. Today, they’re looking to secure a win in their first Champions League match of the season against Bodo/Glimt.
To put this plan into action, coach Vincent Kompany is fielding his full squad. Manuel Neuer will start in goal; he also started against Schalke after being replaced by Jonas Urbig in the DFB Cup.
In front of him, the back four—consisting of Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, and Alphonso Davies—will provide defensive stability. As usual, Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic will form the double-six.
Musiala starts at the “10” position
Kompany is also fielding his best players on the wings. While Michael Olise returns to the right wing after sitting out the weekend, Luis Díaz starts again on the left. In the number 10 position, Jamal Musiala makes his first start of the season.
Up front, Harry Kane—who also sat out the Schalke match—will once again be on the hunt for goals tonight.
The only player Kompany will still be without is Serge Gnabry.
However, the Belgian and his team are by no means underestimating the challenge, as “we know we’re facing a strong team. They’re almost exclusively Norwegian; they can fight hard, but they also play good soccer,” said the Bayern coach at the matchday press conference.
