After collapsing again during the preseason match against Heidenheim, the 23-year-old announced that he suffers from brief but easily treatable blackouts. During the Golden Boot award ceremony, Harry Kane also commented on the situation surrounding Musiala.
There is currently great concern for Jamal Musiala. The offensive player collapsed within three days during the two friendly matches against Leipzig and Heidenheim.
Following the Heidenheim game, Musiala took to Instagram to announce his diagnosis: According to him, his condition consists of “brief but easily treatable absences caused by a neurological dysfunction.”
As reported by BILD, Musiala has been suffering from this condition for several months. His teammates have apparently known about it for some time.
Now, Harry Kane has spoken out for the first time about Musiala’s situation. Upon receiving the Golden Shoe award for Europe’s top scorer, Kane said: “Of course, it’s not nice to see a situation like yesterday’s and Saturday’s game, because he’s our friend and our teammate.”
Kane stands by Musiala
“Right now, it’s just about giving him the space he needs and letting him handle it the way he wants to. I’ll support him 100 percent,” the Englishman added.
For the 33-year-old, it’s clear that Musiala needs support above all else right now. At the same time, he said it’s important to respect the way Musiala himself is handling the situation.
„We have to respect him and the way he wants to handle this. He’s worked extremely hard, especially since his injury last year, to get back to the highest level. He’s also put in a lot of work behind the scenes,“ Kane explained.
“We know that he just wants to be out on the field and get back to normal as soon as possible. Hopefully, the situation will improve over time,” the forward added.
