One decisive factor is the transfer fee. Newcastle are said to be demanding around 90 million euros – a sum that is considered far too high at Säbener Strasse. Internally, a figure of around 60 million euros is considered realistic
This leaves a considerable gap between offer and demand, which is currently the biggest hurdle for a potential transfer
Gordon’s contract at Newcastle runs until 2030, but the Magpies are said to be willing to talk in principle. The club’s financial situation could bring movement to the matter in the summer
