The news made waves in Spain: according to the British Guardian, FC Barcelona are reportedly considering Harry Kane as a top candidate to succeed Robert Lewandowski. A scenario reminiscent of the summer of 2022 – when Barça brought Lewandowski from FC Bayern. But the Catalans are now making it clear: there is no truth to the Kane rumours.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, FC Barcelona have firmly denied the speculation, stressing that there have been no talks with Kane or his advisors – and that there is currently no priority list for potential Lewandowski successors. There are no plans to make a move for the 32-year-old Bayern striker.
An alleged exit clause of 65 million euros in Kane’s contract, which is due to come into effect in the summer of 2026, is providing additional momentum. This would theoretically have opened the door for Barcelona to make a comparatively cheap transfer.
However, the club is playing it down – and thus ending the discussion about a potential mega-deal for the time being.
Kane feels at home in Munich
While there is speculation in Spain, there is clarity at Säbener Straße: Harry Kane feels right at home at Bayern. In recent weeks, the England international has been asked several times about his future – and his answers were clear.
Kane repeatedly emphasized how much he appreciated the atmosphere, the players and the sporting prospects in Munich and said he could well imagine talks about extending his contract.
Those responsible at the German record champions also make no secret of how happy they are with their goalscorer, with sporting director Max Eberl stating weeks ago that they wanted to discuss an extension beyond 2027 with Kane „in due course“.
The extension of successful coach Vincent Kompany until 2029 should also help – continuity is an important argument for the England captain.
