After a disappointing season, the German record champions are preparing for a shake-up in the summer. They are also keen to sign a new player in central defence, withLeverkusen defender Jonathan Tahthe favoured option .Should a signing of the 28-year-old not materialise, the German record champions already have another candidate in mind.
As reported by BILD, Salzburg defender Oumar Solet is on the German record champions‘ list. Sports director Christoph Freund in particular is said to be a big fan of the 24-year-old, having already brought him to RB Salzburg in 2020. However, the signing of the Frenchman is only a realistic option if the signing of preferred defender Tah does not materialise.
Last week, fussballtransfers.com reported that Bayern had the French defender on their radar. However, signing the 24-year-old would not be a foregone conclusion. VfL Wolfsburg are another Bundesliga club interested in the tall defender, while AS Roma and West Ham United are also thought to be interested in Solet. Meanwhile, the player’s side had already negotiated with Inter Milan, but no agreement was reached between the parties.
Salzburg would like to sell Solet
The Frenchman was already on the verge of a move to the Bundesliga last year, and a transfer to a German club is also rumoured to be the 1.92 man’s preferred option for next summer. However, Leverkusen defender Tah is considered to be Munich’s favourite transfer target. The German international is only contractually tied to Bayer Leverkusen until 2025 and is certainly flirting with a change of scenery in the summer.
Solet’s contract at Salzburg also expires in the summer of 2025, meaning the Austrians are rumoured to be considering a sale. If the 24-year-old is not sold for a profit this summer, he could leave on a free transfer next year.
