Harry Kane is currently scoring like an assembly line. With his treble against Mainz last weekend, the 30-year-old Bayern striker has further extended his lead in the Golden Shoe ranking.
The UEFA Golden Shoe is awarded annually to the most successful goalscorer of a season. Although Kane has been one of the best strikers in the world for some time now, the Englishman has never won this award before. This season, however, the Bayern striker has an excellent chance of changing that.
Kane has scored 30 goals in 25 Bundesliga games for Bayern this season. This means that the FCB star is not only the top scorer in the Bundesliga. Munich’s star new signing also currently occupies first place in the European Golden Shoe ranking with 60 points.
If Kane maintains his current goal rate (1.2 goals per game), he not only has a good chance of breaking the Bundesliga record held by former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski (41 goals), but is also very likely to pick up the Golden Boot. For comparison: Erling Haaland secured this last year with 36 goals (72 points).
Martinez chases Kane, Guirassy in the top 3
The Norwegian is currently „only“ in 7th place in the current season with 18 goals (36 points). VfB striker Serhou Guirassy has 21 goals (42 points) and is in 3rd place, together with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Kane’s number one rival is currently Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan. The Argentinian has scored 23 goals so far (46 points).
The Golden Shoe only takes into account players who play in a European 1st division. There is also a weighting of the goals, which is based on the strength of the league. The factor is based on the ranking of the competition in the UEFA five-year ranking. In other words: two points are awarded for a goal scored in one of the top 5 leagues. However, a goal scored in the Norwegian league is worth 1.5 points.
