FC Bayern has officially announced its next major personnel decision. Tim Binder has signed a professional contract with the German record champions, thereby committing himself to the Munich club for the long term. The new contract runs through 2030.
Binder had consistently shown himself worthy of a future with the first team during the last preseason. The 19-year-old was allowed to train regularly with the first team under Vincent Kompany and saw action in friendly matches against Aston Villa and RB Leipzig, among others.
“Tim has a lot of potential; he’s fast, a strong dribbler, and has a great character. He recently demonstrated his talent during preseason training with the pros, among other things,” explained sporting director Christoph Freund.
Binder joined the club in 2029 at the age of 12 from FC Augsburg and subsequently progressed through all the youth ranks of the German record champions.
“Tim is a prime example of the outstanding development opportunities at our campus. He joined us at a young age and has continued to develop within our youth teams. We’re very excited to continue his journey with him at FC Bayern,” added Freund.
Kompany was also impressed by the youngster’s performances. The Bayern coach, together with sporting director Christoph Freund, had advocated for the talent to remain with the club long-term.
Currently still injured
For Binder, the new contract is also a vote of confidence, as the attacking player is currently sidelined. A torn muscle fiber in his thigh put him out of action after a strong preseason. Most recently, the 19-year-old has been working individually toward his return.
Now comes the next step: With a professional contract through 2030, the German U19 national team player has long-term prospects at Säbener Straße.
FC Bayern is thus continuing to invest in its own youth system: With Tim Binder, the club has secured another Campus talent for the long term.
