It’s been just a year since FC Bayern showed great interest in Nick Woltemade. But at the time, the forward moved from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle United. This summer, however, the door could open again.
His first year in England went anything but well. Although Woltemade actually got off to a good start and quickly acclimated himself to some extent, his stats were ultimately disappointing.
He played 51 games for the Magpies and scored 11 goals—all in just over 3,000 minutes of play. He was often brought on as a substitute or taken off early. Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s coach, is reportedly not the biggest fan of Woltemade either.
Newcastle would be willing to let Woltemade go
This summer, Newcastle’s roster is expected to see changes in several positions. According to CaughtOffside, Woltemade is one of the players who may leave the club. It’s even said that the striker is expected to move this summer.
BVB, Aston Villa, and Atlético are said to have already inquired about the situation. They all have one thing in common: they cannot or will not spend an extremely high amount. The roughly 75 million euros that the Magpies transferred to Stuttgart a year ago are considered unrealistic.

The report also states that it is quite realistic that the interested clubs will primarily offer a loan with a subsequent option to buy. Newcastle’s management does not even seem to be categorically ruling out this option. If a loan deal were possible, it cannot be ruled out that Bayern Munich might re-enter the fray.
Although Woltemade is not currently considered a concrete option for the record champions, that could change without the risk of a high transfer fee. Especially since the summer transfer window is still a long way off and Bayern has repeatedly emphasized that it is closely monitoring the market.
