The future of Nicolas Jackson at FC Bayern has been decided – and yet some questions remain unanswered. While the Munich club have already made it clear that they will not sign the attacker permanently, a statement from his advisor has now provided additional insight
Director of Sport Max Eberl stated unequivocally in the ZDF sports studio: „We will not exercise the purchase option for Nicolas Jackson.“
The Senegalese striker’s chapter at the German record champions thus ends after just one season – at least as things stand at present. Jackson was loaned out from Chelsea FC last summer to act as a backup for Harry Kane
Improved performance at the end of the season
After a mixed start, the 24-year-old needed some time to find his feet in Munich, but in recent weeks Jackson has shown a clear improvement in performance and has been able to collect important scoring points
His advisor Diomansy Kamara also picked up on this development and focused on his sporting progress: „Nicolas Jackson is playing an outstanding season: 28 games, 10 goals, African champion, German champion and also in the cup final.“
Despite Bayern’s decision, Jackson does not want to be distracted by questions about the future: „Nico is fully focused on the Champions League semi-final against PSG,“ explained Kamara
The attacker’s sporting ambitions remain at the forefront of his mind, with another title on the line in the DFB Cup final in addition to the Champions League
Advisor keeps a low profile
Kamara deliberately left it open as to what the future holds for Jackson after the season. „The future… who can predict it? Trust the process, anything is possible,“ explained the former professional
One thing is certain: the striker will initially return to Chelsea FC, where he is still under long-term contract. It is currently unclear whether he will continue there or whether a new club will come into play
For FC Bayern, the decision means that they will have to become active on the transfer market again in the summer. The position behind Harry Kane remains vacant and is to be filled by a new player
Jackson thus leaves a mixed picture in Munich – with a clear improvement towards the end of the season, but no long-term prospects at the record champions.
