Manuel Neuer has extended his contract with FC Bayern by one year until 2025, but it remains to be seen whether the goalkeeper will end his career after that. However, the Munich club probably already has a potential successor in mind.

How Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer plans his future after his contract expires in the summer of 2025 is still uncertain. The FCB management must therefore already be thinking about a possible successor for the 37-year-old.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio is now talking about Mike Maignan as a possible candidate.

The French goalkeeper plays for AC Milan – just like Theo Hernandez, who Bayern apparently have on their list as a possible successor to Alphonso Davies in the left-back position.

„Bayern Munich want Maignan, for example, and Theo Hernandez is someone PSG and Bayern Munich want,“ Di Marzio told wettfreunde.net.

Milan need money for reinforcements

Di Marzio believes that Milan will sell a star in the summer in order to generate money for reinforcements. Maignan and Hernandez would be candidates for sale, as both are only tied to the Rossoneri until the summer of 2026.

A price of between 70 and 100 million euros has been mentioned for Hernandez in recent days. Maignan’s market value is estimated at €45 million by Transfermarkt.de, but Milan could even ask around €60 million for their regular goalkeeper.

This is not the first time that the 28-year-old Frenchman Maignan has been linked with FC Bayern. The keeper is said to have already played a role in the Bayern bosses‘ considerations at the end of 2023. At the time, Manuel Neuer was injured – it was impossible to predict with any certainty that the veteran would regain his former strength.
