After a difficult season at Bayern Munich, Marcel Sabitzer aims to establish himself at the club. Despite the rumors linking him with a departure, the Austrian now wants to fight for his position at the club.
Marcel Sabitzer is currently on international duty with the Austrian national team. Although he is a starter with the national team, at Bayern, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter and the transfer has been met with a significant amount of criticism.
In the national team press conference, Sabitzer confirmed that this season was quite unusual for him: „I haven’t had a year like that in my career, so of course, there were analyzes as to why and how come. A lot of players at Bayern had problems in their first year, that’s just the way it is“
With the coming of Ryan Gravenberch and perhaps Konrad Laimer, the competition in the midfield is growing. The club is also looking to sell some of the players, such as Marc Roca, and in the past, Sabitzer was also a sales candidate. Though, it needs to be said that despite Sabitzer’s confirmation of wanting to stay at Bayern, you never know what the club will be deciding in the summer. Nevertheless, Bayern Munich is always known for giving chances to the players when they deserve it.
In order to be a fierce competitor to his midfield colleagues, Sabitzer has to show his qualities and the Austrian appears confident in his qualities: „I’ll believe in my chances from day one and try to do my thing. I believe in my strengths, I haven’t forgotten [to do] anything. I just haven’t been able to develop [my skills] like that“, and continues bluntly: „I’ve shown at the highest level in recent years that I’m a top player and I don’t think I’ve forgotten that.“
