Half of the Bayern Munich stars are currently on international duty for their countries. Some of the remaining players stayed in Munich due to professional and personal reasons.
The hot phase is approaching and Bayern should be looking forward to having a full squad for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The record champions will be facing Villareal FC on 6th April and 12th April. After suffering lots of setbacks due to injuries and absences, Bayern should be finally having a complete squad by then, which is very good news.
The personnel has always been a problem for Bayern over the past couple of years, crucial injuries have affected the club’s performances and their chances at the big stage. Last year, Bayern faced Paris Saint-Germain in Paris with only Javi Martinez as the experienced player on the bench, with the rest being young and youth players. Robert Lewandowski’s one-month absence hurt the club’s chances.
According to ‚BILD‘, Julian Nagelsmann will have the opportunity to have the full squad available in the coming weeks, provided nothing negative happens on the way. Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, Benjamin Pavard and Niklas Süle should be all be ready for the quarterfinals.
Alphonso Davies, who was out with myocarditis, has been training individually for the past couple of weeks and only resumed partial team training this Tuesday. The training intensity increases every session and his heart rate is always checked. The newspaper claims that Davies could be included in the squad against Freiburg should everything go as planned by next week.
Niklas Süle on the other hand tore his muscle fiber on the thigh and has been sidelined for three to four weeks. He has been able to train individually this mid-week by doing sprints and jogging. He is not planned yet for the starting XI yet, especially against SC Freiburg, but the likelihood that he could be in the squad against Villareal is quite high
