FC Bayern appears to be continuing its efforts to sign Gladbach prospect Wael Mohya. After it was recently reported that the Munich club has been closely monitoring the 17-year-old, new details have now emerged. According to these reports, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have already taken action and have made contact with the offensive player’s immediate circle.
As Julian Agardi and Christian Falk report in the Bayern Insider podcast, Bayern officials have already gathered information about Mohya’s contract and the potential terms of a transfer. This indicates that the record champions’ interest goes beyond mere observation. The Munich club apparently wants to know exactly what conditions would need to be met to sign the youngster.
However, there has been no mention of concrete negotiations or an offer so far. Nevertheless, laying the groundwork to court the Gladbach rising star could be an important step.
Bayern Munich is by no means the only top club taking an interest in the versatile attacking player. In addition to FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to have put out feelers for the German U21 national team player. Furthermore, there is interest from abroad.
Mohya has put himself in the spotlight with his performances in recent weeks. In the 3-2 win against VfB Stuttgart, he played a key role in Gladbach’s first Bundesliga victory with a goal and an assist. In total, the 17-year-old has already tallied three goals and one assist in eight competitive matches this season.
Gladbach is fighting to keep its top talent
Borussia Mönchengladbach is determined to keep the rising star for the long term. His current contract runs through 2028. Club officials are therefore working on an early contract extension, which could apparently include an exit clause. A transfer this winter is currently considered unlikely. Next summer, however, the situation could take a new turn.

Borussia’s on-field performance is also likely to be a decisive factor. Whether he stays beyond the current season will likely depend largely on whether Gladbach manages to avoid relegation. This could present a concrete opportunity for FC Bayern this summer. By reaching out to Mohya’s inner circle, Eberl and Freund have apparently already laid the groundwork.
