FC Bayern may face the loss of a promising young goalkeeper next summer. Leonard Prescott is apparently on the radar of several top European clubs. Arsenal, in particular, is said to be taking a close interest in the 17-year-old. For the Munich club, their long-term goalkeeping plans—of all things—could become a problem.
As reported by the British website TEAMtalk, the London club has set its sights on Prescott as a potential signing for the summer of 2027. The English champions are said to be very interested in bringing the young goalkeeper to the Thames.
However, Arsenal is apparently not alone in courting the young goalkeeper. Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be keeping an eye on Prescott. In addition, Juventus Turin and several Bundesliga clubs are rumored to be potential suitors.
Urbig could become a problem for Prescott
A decisive factor in the talented goalkeeper’s future plans is likely to be the competitive situation at Bayern Munich.
With Jonas Urbig, the Munich club already has a young goalkeeper who is expected to succeed Manuel Neuer in the long term. The 23-year-old enjoys great trust from club officials and is being groomed as the future number one.
For Prescott, this could mean that his chances of securing a permanent spot on the professional roster will remain limited in the coming years.
Looking ahead, the 17-year-old would not only have to compete with Urbig but first make the leap from the youth ranks to the first team.
Given this situation, a transfer to another club is certainly something the young goalkeeper should consider.
Bayern faces the prospect of losing him on a free transfer

The situation is made even more pressing by Prescott’s contract status. His current contract with the German record champions expires in the summer of 2027. This means Munich could even lose their talented goalkeeper on a free transfer after the current season if a contract extension isn’t agreed upon.
According to information from TEAMtalk, there have already been talks about extending the contract. However, no agreement has been reached so far.
In addition to a permanent departure, a loan move could also be on the table. This would give Prescott the opportunity to gain playing time elsewhere and prove himself ready for bigger challenges.
This raises a fundamental question for Bayern: How can they retain a promising young talent in the long term when Urbig is already being groomed as Neuer’s successor?
