At just 17 years old, Wael Mohya is making waves in the Bundesliga. Now, FC Bayern is apparently taking a close look at the top talent from Mönchengladbach.
FC Bayern has apparently set its sights on the next big Bundesliga prospect. The Munich club is reportedly keeping a very close eye on Wael Mohya of Borussia Mönchengladbach and is considering a possible signing of the 17-year-old attacking player.
According to information from Sky , Mohya is on the German record champions’ radar. The player is reportedly aware of this as well. However, there have been no concrete talks or negotiations so far.
Moreover, Bayern is by no means the only club tracking Mohya’s development. Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen are also reportedly interested in the youngster. In addition, several top international clubs have put out feelers for the Gladbach homegrown talent.
A move as early as this winter is currently considered unlikely, however. Borussia Mönchengladbach would instead like to secure Mohya on a long-term deal as soon as possible, extending beyond his current contract, which runs through 2028. According to Sky, a new contract is also expected to include a release clause. One thing is clear, though: Whether he stays beyond next summer will likely depend largely on whether Gladbach manages to avoid relegation.
Mohya Causes a Sensation Against Stuttgart
The 17-year-old recently demonstrated in impressive fashion why so many top clubs are now taking an interest in Mohya. In the 3-2 away win against VfB Stuttgart, the attacking player was the standout performer with a goal and an assist, leading Borussia to its first Bundesliga victory of the season.
His stats are remarkable for a 17-year-old anyway. In seven Bundesliga appearances this season, Mohya has already tallied two goals and one assist. He also added another goal in the DFB Cup. That brings the Gladbach homegrown talent’s total to three goals and one assist after just eight competitive matches.
Mohya has long since become more than just a prospect. Under coach Alexander Blessin, the youngster is already a fixture on the team. According to BILD, his market value is estimated at 17 million euros, though internally, Borussia reportedly values him significantly higher.

His development is generating a great deal of excitement in Gladbach. Sports Director Rouven Schröder raved after the Stuttgart game: “This isn’t something to be taken for granted. It was a solid team effort, but what Wael—at just 17 years old—is already accomplishing in terms of ground covered, one-on-one situations, courage, and technique is admirable. Just thinking about how he set up the 2-1 goal—even then, he simply stays true to himself, namely passionate.”
For FC Bayern, the combination of age, Bundesliga experience, and offensive versatility is likely particularly appealing. Despite being only 17, Mohya already plays regularly in the Bundesliga and has shown that he can directly influence games.
However, the matter is still in its early stages. The Munich club is keeping an eye on Mohya, and the player apparently can envision making the move in principle. For now, though, Gladbach is trying to keep its current crown jewel in the Lower Rhine region for the long term. By next summer at the latest, however, the question of Mohya’s future could become a concrete one.
