FC Bayern apparently continues to be on the lookout for reinforcements for its defense. In the process, a familiar face could once again come into the Munich club’s sights. According to several media reports, the German record champion is considering Leny Yoro of Manchester United. The French center back was already on Bayern’s wish list more than two years ago.
In the summer of 2024, Yoro was among the most sought-after defensive talents in Europe. Numerous top international clubs vied for the young Frenchman at the time, including FC Bayern.
Manchester United ultimately won the race. The Red Devils paid more than 60 million euros to OSC Lille to secure the services of the highly promising defender.
But the hoped-for breakthrough in England has yet to materialize. It is precisely this situation that could now bring other clubs back into the picture.
Bayern is monitoring Leny Yoro’s situation
As reported by the English website TEAMtalk, Bayern Munich officials are closely monitoring the 20-year-old’s development at Manchester United. According to the report, the German record champions are among several top European clubs considering a potential signing.
In addition to the Munich club, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be showing interest in Yoro.
PSG is said to be paying particularly close attention to the French national team player. According to TEAMtalk, the defender is highly regarded in Paris.
One reason for this is likely his versatility. Yoro can play both as a center back and at right back.
A player like this would certainly be of interest to Bayern Munich. After all, flexibility within the defense plays an important role under coach Vincent Kompany.
However, no concrete negotiations between the Munich club and Manchester United have been reported so far.
Manchester United could be facing a difficult decision

The fact that Yoro’s name is once again being mentioned in transfer rumors apparently also has to do with his current situation on the field. The 20-year-old has seen only sporadic playing time at Manchester United so far.
According to reports, the Frenchman has taken the field only five times this season. He has been in the starting lineup just three times and has played the full 90 minutes in only two matches. For a player who cost more than 60 million euros in transfer fees two years ago, that’s an unsatisfactory record. His current market value is estimated at 45 million euros.
An early departure from Manchester should therefore not be ruled out entirely.
However, TEAMtalk also reports that the Red Devils’ management continues to have great confidence in the Frenchman’s potential. According to the report, England’s record champions still hope that Yoro will develop into a key pillar of the team in the long term.
His contract also runs through the summer of 2029. Manchester United is thus in a comfortable negotiating position and is not under immediate pressure to sell.
Will Bayern make a second bid?
For FC Bayern, Yoro could be of particular interest with an eye toward long-term roster planning. Despite his difficult time in Manchester so far, the Frenchman is still considered a promising defensive talent.
The fact that Munich is said to have already taken a close look at him as early as 2024 makes the current reports particularly interesting. Whether this will actually lead to a new transfer push, however, remains to be seen.
In addition to Yoro’s athletic prospects, the key factor is likely to be the financial terms under which Manchester United would even be willing to sell him.
