Jamal Musiala’s current situation is a major concern for FC Bayern, extending far beyond the realm of sports. After the 23-year-old recently revealed that he has been struggling with intermittent absences, one thing is paramount for the Munich club: the health of their star forward.
Now Uli Hoeneß has also commented on the German national team player’s situation. At the Sport-BILD Awards, the Bayern chairman made it clear that Musiala can count on the club’s full support during this difficult phase.
Hoeneß spoke emotionally and hinted at just how much the situation is weighing on the minds of those in charge at Germany’s record-holding champions.
Hoeneß: “We’re doing everything we can.”
“He knows—and he has to know—that we’re doing everything we can to help him. What we and he are going through right now is unbelievable. I really hope that everything turns out well in the end,” Hoeneß explained at the Sport-BILD Awards.
These statements underscore once again that FC Bayern does not want to put any sporting pressure on Musiala at this time. Given the current situation, when the attacking player will be able to return to the field on a permanent basis is of secondary importance.
During preseason, Musiala caused major concern twice within a few days. First, he collapsed without any contact from an opponent during the Telekom Cup match against RB Leipzig. A few days later, a similar incident occurred in the friendly against 1. FC Heidenheim.
Musiala subsequently went public with his health situation himself. The Bayern star explained that he had been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable blackouts. He has been under close medical supervision ever since.
Bayern puts Musiala’s health first
In recent days, several Bayern officials had already emphasized that the club was aware of the situation and was working closely with Musiala and his doctors.
On the field as well, the 23-year-old is being given the time he needs. Vincent Kompany recently made a conscious decision not to play his star forward. The Bayern coach made it clear that Musiala should go through his adjustment period without additional public pressure.
However, the support extends far beyond the club. German national team coach Jürgen Klopp also recently sent Musiala a personal message, assuring him that the current situation would not have any negative impact on his prospects with the German national team. For Musiala, the priority right now is solely to regain full health.
Hoeneß’s statements now show just how seriously the situation is being taken within FC Bayern as well. The 74-year-old not only speaks of supporting Musiala as best as possible, but also explicitly includes the club when he refers to an “incredible” situation.
It remains to be seen when Musiala will take the field again for the record-holding champions. At FC Bayern, it likely doesn’t matter right now whether his return takes a few days or significantly longer. Hoeneß’s message is clear: Musiala will receive all the support he needs from the club.
