Things will get exciting for FC Bayern starting at 6 p.m. The draw for the group stage of the 2026–27 Champions League will take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The Munich team will be drawn against a total of eight opponents.
Blockbuster matchups possible for Bayern
One thing is already certain: Bayern will almost certainly face two true top-tier opponents. Due to its UEFA club coefficient, the record German champion is in Pot 1 and will be drawn against two opponents from this pot.
Possible matchups include Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester City, or Liverpool.
Here’s how the draw works
The 36 participating teams are divided into four draw pots, each containing nine teams. Each club is drawn against two opponents from each pot—one at home and one on the road.
This means that FC Bayern will ultimately face eight different opponents, with four home games and four away games.
Matches against clubs from the same national association are not permitted. This means Bayern cannot face Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, or VfB Stuttgart during the group stage. Additionally, a club may play against no more than two teams from the same country.
