There is renewed hope at FC Bayern that Jamal Musiala will return soon. The star forward has taken another step in the right direction after a difficult stretch. However, he will not yet be in the lineup against VfB Stuttgart.
Vincent Kompany confirmed at the press conference ahead of the Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart that Musiala is not currently in contention for the roster. At the same time, the Bayern coach made it clear that the 23-year-old’s condition is improving.
“Basically, Jamal is doing relatively well. He’s participating in team training today,” Kompany explained. However, it’s still too early for him to return for the Bundesliga opener in Stuttgart.
“He won’t be on the roster tomorrow,” the Bayern coach clarified. This means Musiala will remain sidelined for now, as the Munich club continues to avoid taking any risks regarding his return.
Bayern Munich had previously emphasized that Musiala’s return would be closely coordinated with the treating specialists.
Bayern is waiting for the right moment
Musiala is currently in the process of adjusting to a higher dose of medication. “He’s getting used to the increase in dosage,” Kompany explained.
The Belgian left open exactly when the star forward will be able to return to the matchday roster. Apparently, there is still no concrete timeline: “At some point, he’ll be back on the roster,” was all Kompany would say. The decision on the next step is not expected to rest solely with the coaching staff.
„We’ll make the decision hand in hand with the experts,“ the Bayern coach emphasized.
Despite the question of his return still being up in the air, the record champions apparently have reason to hope for a prompt comeback from Musiala. The most important thing for now is that the 23-year-old is doing well and is adapting to the change in medication without any problems.
“He’s doing well,” Kompany clarified in closing.
It therefore remains to be seen when Musiala will actually return to the Bayern squad. One thing is clear: the star forward is on his way back—and the record champions want to work with the experts to determine the right time for his return.
