Harry Kane, a forward for FC Bayern, is considered one of the top favorites to win the Ballon d’Or. But the competition is fierce, especially from France. Now the Englishman has spoken out about his chances of achieving this triumph.
There’s no question that Kane had an outstanding season. With FC Bayern, he won all three domestic titles, and in the Champions League, he helped the record-holding champions reach the semifinals after an impressive run.
The same goes for the World Cup in North America, where the Three Lions also fell in the semifinals and ultimately finished in third place. Will the team titles be enough to win the individual award? That remains to be seen.
Kane: Ballon d’Or would be “fantastic”
Ousmane Dembélé could become Kane’s biggest rival. The Frenchman, who plays for PSG, has the advantage of having won the Champions League.
During the Allianz Team Day, when FC Bayern presented its squad to the fans and held a public training session, Kane was asked for his thoughts on his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.
“I’m very proud of the season I’ve had. From an individual standpoint, the Ballon d’Or is the biggest award you can win. The Ballon d’Or isn’t in my hands. I’ve done everything I could in terms of my performance. Of course, it would be fantastic if it works out,” said the Englishman.
He continued: “But ultimately, there are still two or three months until a decision is made. I’m extremely proud of what I’ve achieved with this team and also with the national team. For me, it’s now about focusing on this season. We have big ambitions and big goals.”
After winning titles with Bayern at the national level, Kane is now also aiming for an international title with the record-holding champions. That would be the icing on the cake of his time in Munich.
