Bayern has already made two high-profile signings for the upcoming season in Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown. But other players are being linked to the Munich club. FCBinside assesses the latest rumors.
FC Bayern has already made two moves in the transfer market. Following the signings of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, club officials are now turning their attention to the next potential areas for improvement in the roster. Recently, new candidates have been brought into the mix. But how realistic are these potential signings, really?
Most recently, the name Orlando Gill has caused quite a stir. The Paraguayan national team goalkeeper played his way into the spotlight at the World Cup with strong performances—including against Germany—and has recently been touted as an “exciting prospect” for FC Bayern.
In fact, the Munich club regularly monitors the international goalkeeper market. However, a concrete transfer seems unlikely at this time. With Manuel Neuer as the number one and Jonas Urbig as the designated successor, the record champions consider themselves exceptionally well-positioned in this position.
Only if, following the end of Neuer’s career, it becomes apparent that Urbig is not living up to the high expectations could a major investment in the goalkeeper market even become a topic of discussion. At present, however, there is no urgent need for action.
Nusa shines with Norway
The situation is somewhat different for Antonio Nusa. The Norwegian national team player is once again impressing with strong performances at the World Cup and is certainly regarded internally as an interesting prospect. According to information from BILD’s soccer editor Christian Falk, Bayern recognizes the great potential of the Leipzig attacking star.
However, a concrete transfer is not currently planned. For one thing, Munich has already invested significantly in its offense with Saibari. For another, Nusa is likely to become increasingly expensive due to his strong World Cup performance and the interest from several top English clubs.
Added to this is the fact that RB Leipzig would likely be extremely reluctant to let the winger go following a possible departure by Yan Diomande. Therefore, a move to Munich currently seems rather unlikely.
Bremer a candidate for the defense
Gleison Bremer also remains a candidate for FC Bayern. The Brazilian has repeatedly been linked with the Munich club; according to Italian media, contacts have reportedly even intensified again recently. Juventus is apparently now willing to let the center back go for significantly less than originally assumed. Instead of the stipulated 58 million euros, around 40 million euros might be enough.
Nevertheless, there is a crucial prerequisite here as well. Before FC Bayern can even seriously consider a transfer for Bremer, players like Minjae Kim or Hiroki Ito would first have to be sold. Only then would both a spot on the roster and the financial means for another top-tier center back become available.
This keeps squad planning at Säbener Straße exciting. While Orlando Gill is currently more of a long-term prospect and Antonio Nusa seems hardly realistic at the moment, Gleison Bremer could very well become a hot topic again if the right players are sold.
Following the multi-million signings of Brown and Saibari, further major transfers will likely only be possible if FC Bayern first generates revenue on the transfer market itself.
