Michael Olise continues to make a big impact at the World Cup. The FC Bayern attacking star was one of the standout players in France’s 3-0 victory over Sweden and played a decisive role in the Équipe Tricolore’s advancement to the Round of 16.
The 24-year-old set up two goals and now has five assists in the current tournament—a record for the 2026 World Cup.
Olise Delivers Again for Mbappé and Barcola
Olise was making his presence felt time and again as early as the first half. First, the Bayern pro hit the post himself with a spectacular bicycle kick, before Kylian Mbappé put France ahead with a spectacular goal shortly before halftime.
After the break, Olise finally stepped into the spotlight. With a dream pass, he set up Bradley Barcola, who coolly finished to make it 2-0. Shortly afterward, the Munich player was on hand again, setting up Mbappé perfectly, who sealed the final score with his second goal.
While Olise once again impressed as the creative force behind the French attack, his Bayern teammate Dayot Upamecano also turned in a strong performance at center back, working with his fellow defenders to allow the Swedes virtually no dangerous chances.

With this commanding performance, France once again underscored its title aspirations. Paraguay now awaits Didier Deschamps’ team in the Round of 16.
Olise’s performances are also likely to impress the Bayern Munich management. With two more assists, the Frenchman leads the World Cup assist standings with five and has been one of the standout players of the entire tournament so far.
