No wonder Europe’s top clubs are at least keeping an eye on developments. But even the original report in the Daily Mail noted that while Kane’s camp listened to the Catalans’ interest, they did not pursue it further.
Now, several media outlets, including Sky and The Athletic, are reporting that Kane is clearly leaning toward extending his contract—and that he plans to do so fairly soon after the 2026 World Cup.

Kane had the option to activate an exit clause in his contract this summer, but would have had to inform FC Bayern of this decision as early as January—a right he did not exercise. In his interviews, Kane has also repeatedly emphasized how happy he is in Munich.
The main points still up for discussion primarily include the contract term and details regarding the structure of his base salary. On “Transfer Update,” Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg stated that there is “no truth” to the Barcelona rumors and that Kane and his family are clearly prioritizing staying in Munich.
So there’s no cause for concern. After the World Cup—which is the main focus right now—Bayern Munich officials will need to step up talks immediately and present a solid initial offer. Then, nothing will stand in the way of a contract extension.
