FC Bayern already has several top-class goalkeepers. Nevertheless, another keeper is now being linked with the Munich club.
At first glance, the goalkeeper position at FC Bayern appears to be well-staffed for the coming years. With Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig, and Alexander Nübel, the club currently has three top-class goalkeepers under contract. In addition, Sven Ulreich serves as an experienced backup who has been considered a reliable alternative for years.
Nevertheless, club officials are reportedly already exploring potential solutions for the future. As reported by the Sports Boom portal, Zion Suzuki is among the goalkeepers being scouted by the German record champions.
The 23-year-old is currently under contract with Italian first-division club Parma and is considered one of Japan’s greatest goalkeeping talents. Suzuki will soon be representing the national team at the World Cup, where he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills on soccer’s biggest stage.
According to the report, however, FC Bayern is not the only club interested. Inter Milan, SSC Napoli, Manchester United, and Aston Villa are also reportedly looking at the Japanese international.
Bayern is apparently thinking long-term
Manuel Neuer celebrated his 40th birthday in March and will not continue his career for many more years. At 37, Sven Ulreich is also in the twilight of his career.
Furthermore, Alexander Nübel’s future remains uncertain. The national team goalkeeper has been on loan to VfB Stuttgart for several years and is reportedly open to a permanent move this summer. A return to Munich as a backup goalkeeper currently seems rather unlikely.
Against this backdrop, Suzuki could represent an interesting long-term solution for Bayern. The Japanese player is under contract with Parma until 2029 and has continued to develop over the past few years.

However, no concrete steps have been taken yet. According to information from Sports Boom, no interested club is currently in negotiations. Rather, the clubs are monitoring the situation and continuing to evaluate the goalkeeper closely.
The financial side of things also remains open. It is currently unknown what transfer fee Parma would demand for Suzuki. The only thing that is clear is that the Japanese international is one of the goalkeepers being closely watched on the international transfer market ahead of the World Cup.
For FC Bayern, a potential transfer would be more of a future consideration at this point anyway. With Neuer and Urbig, the Munich club sees itself as well-positioned in the short term. Nevertheless, it appears they already have potential successors in mind.
