FC Bayern is pressing ahead with its plans for the summer – and a familiar name is once again taking center stage: Rafael Leao remains a hot topic at Säbener Straße despite the changing developments.
As the latest reports show, the Munich club are still interested in the Portuguese winger from AC Milan. Although a transfer was long considered almost impossible, the situation has changed considerably of late.
Milan are now said to be prepared to consider a sale, as Leao is no longer uncontroversial under coach Massimiliano Allegri. His fluctuating performances, coupled with a high salary, are said to be causing discontent at the club – factors that could push the price down considerably. While a transfer fee of around 80 million euros was mooted last summer, there is now speculation about a transfer fee in the region of 50 million euros.
This development makes the 26-year-old much more interesting for FC Bayern again. In the past, Leao has repeatedly been talked about as a possible winger for the left flank, but now a new opportunity could arise. According to media reports, Munich are continuing to examine the situation closely and are keeping an eye on the attacking player as one of several options.
In sporting terms, Leao has a profile that fits in perfectly with Bayern’s requirements. The Portuguese international is regarded as an explosive winger with great speed, strong dribbling ability and a high goal threat. At 1.88 metres tall, he also has an enormous physical presence.
Leao also remains in demand internationally
In addition to Bayern, several Premier League clubs and FC Barcelona are said to be interested, which could further fuel a potential transfer competition. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United in particular is said to be a hot candidate.
There are therefore many indications that Leão could indeed leave Milan in the summer, giving FC Bayern the opportunity to sign an international star for a relatively moderate price.
