The deal is now official: FC Bayern is loaning out a professional to England in the winter transfer period
Goalkeeper Daniel Peretz will be loaned out to England by FC Bayern until the end of the season. The 25-year-old will join Southampton FC on loan, the club has confirmed. The deal also includes a purchase option for the summer
From Munich’s point of view, the move is a logical one. Peretz urgently needs to gain match practice over the coming months – something he was not guaranteed in the previous constellation. After breaking off his loan at Hamburger SV, Bayern looked for a new solution and have now found it with the English second division club. Southampton had recently made intensive efforts to acquire the Israeli international keeper and finalised the transfer
Financially, the deal is a clean solution for FC Bayern. While HSV will not make any payment to the Munich club for the six-month loan, Southampton will pay a loan fee until the end of the season. The English club will also secure a purchase option that will allow them to sign Peretz permanently in the summer. Bayern will therefore retain both sporting and financial control over the goalkeeper’s further development
Peretz to gain match practice at Southampton
The transfer is also the result of lengthy talks behind the scenes. There had already been an agreement in principle in mid-December about a premature termination of the loan in Hamburg, but this could not be implemented immediately due to internal changes at HSV. With Southampton’s involvement, a solution has now been found that gives all parties involved planning security

For FC Bayern, one thing above all is paramount: Peretz should be able to play regularly in England and continue to develop at a high level. The coming months at Southampton offer the keeper the chance to make up for what has been missing recently – consistent playing time.
