For FC Bayern, the new Champions League season begins on Thursday. To kick off the group stage, the German record champions will host Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt at the Allianz Arena. Kickoff is at 9 p.m.
The Munich side goes into the match as the clear favorite, but after a 0-0 draw against FC Schalke 04, they’re eager to get back on track. For Bayern, this is also a first: for the first time in club history, the FCB will play a Champions League match on a Thursday.
The unusual scheduling is due to the Champions League’s exclusive opening week. Matches for the first matchday are spread across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Despite the clear disparity in status, Bayern should not underestimate Bodo/Glimt. The Norwegians reached the knockout stage of the Champions League last season and caused a stir with victories over Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, among others.

Anyone who wants to watch the match between FC Bayern and Bodo/Glimt live will need a paid subscription. There will be no broadcast on free-to-air TV.
DAZN will broadcast the Champions League match live and exclusively on Thursday evening. The broadcast begins at 8:10 p.m., and kickoff at the Allianz Arena is at 9:00 p.m.
The match will also be available via livestream exclusively on DAZN. Although Amazon Prime Video also broadcasts select Champions League matches, the Bayern vs. Bodo/Glimt game is not among them.

For Vincent Kompany’s team, the match against Bodo/Glimt is also about responding to the first minor setback of the season. In the 0-0 draw at Schalke, Bayern dominated for long stretches but failed to capitalize on several prime scoring opportunities.

Kompany is likely to field his strongest available lineup against the Norwegians. Harry Kane and Michael Olise, who were initially rested at Schalke, are candidates for the starting lineup. Jamal Musiala is also available again following his return in Gelsenkirchen.
Following the Champions League match, the next unusual schedule awaits the Munich team. On Sunday at 5:30 p.m., Bayern will face Bundesliga newcomer SV Elversberg on the road. For a few days, the record champions will thus be back in their classic Thursday-Sunday rhythm.
