FC Bayern are working flat out on their squad planning for the coming season – and a look at the right side of defence shows a clear need for action. Internal discussions have been going on for weeks about how to strengthen the position, and now another name has appeared on the Munich club’s list
According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, Bayern are looking at Michael Kayode from Brentford FC. The Italian right-back has been one of the positive figures this Premier League season and has played his way into the limelight with consistent performances. Kayode has made 24 league appearances so far and is an integral part of a Brentford side that is a surprise seventh-placed team
The 21-year-old is still under contract with the Londoners until 2030. Brentford signed him from AC Florence last summer for around €18 million. His market value is currently estimated at around €27 million. Kayode is also already gaining international experience: eight appearances for the Italian U21 national team underline his profile as a promising player with development potential
Strong competition and clear Bayern priority

However, the interest is not limited to FC Bayern. In addition to Munich, Juventus Turin, Inter Milan, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are also said to be keeping an eye on Kayode. Brentford would like to keep the right-back, but are said to be willing to talk if they receive an attractive offer in the summer of 2026
Nevertheless, one thing remains clear from Munich’s perspective: Givairo Read of Feyenoord Rotterdam remains a top priority. As reported by Sky, FC Bayern have been in contact with the 19-year-old Dutchman for some time. However, Read is also hotly courted, which makes a transfer complicated
Should Bayern fall short of their dream player Read, Kayode could become a serious alternative.
