Luke Littler won the 2026 World Darts Championship on Saturday evening. After his triumph, he expressed his wish to see a Bayern star at his favorite club Manchester United
England’s Luke Littler beat Dutchman Gian van Veen with an impressive 7:1 in the final of the World Darts Championship on Saturday evening. After his victory, Littler was a guest on the broadcasting channel Sport1 for the usual post-match interview – and had an interesting anecdote to share. The self-confessed Manchester United fan suddenly spoke about a Bayern star
Littler’s dominance in the sport of darts was compared by the presenters to FC Bayern’s dominance in soccer. Asked about this, Littler said: „The Bayern Munich player, how do I say his first name? Karl? Lennart Karl? He wrote to me in the third or fourth round. He said something like: ‚Keep it up‘. I’ve been following him ever since.“
Karl one for United?
Expert Max Hopp, who himself was on stage at the legendary Alexandra Palace in the first two rounds, probed even deeper and asked whether Littler could not even imagine Karl at Manchester United. The world champion replied: „If he wants to, he can of course come. The best thing would be for him to bring Harry Kane with him.“
As for Kane, Littler was possibly alluding to the release clause in his compatriot’s contract. The England captain is allowed to leave FC Bayern in the summer for a fixed sum of €65 million. Since the beginning of January, he has therefore been able to hold talks with other clubs
There have been repeated rumours of a return to the island, but at the moment everything points to him staying at FC Bayern. Kane and his family feel extremely comfortable in Munich and things could hardly be going better for the 32-year-old striker in sporting terms. He has already scored 30 goals and provided three assists in 25 competitive matches.
