The Serie A striker was already on FC Bayern’s radar in 2021. More than four years later, Munich’s interest seems to be hotting up again
Dušan Vlahović was already considered a possible successor to Robert Lewandowski in autumn 2021, who was due to move to FC Barcelona the following summer. As Sky reported at the time, Bayern bosses had even met with Vlahović the previous year. At the time, the Serbian was still under contract in Florence. Instead of moving to the Isar, however, the now 25-year-old opted for a transfer to Juventus Turin, where he is still under contract today
However, Vlahović has now come back into the focus of FC Bayern, partly due to his contract situation. His contract with the Old Lady expires in the summer. He would therefore be available on a free transfer. In view of the over 80 million euros for which he once moved to Turin, this would be an unbeatable deal for the German record champions. As the Italian portal Tuttomercato reports, FCB are interested in Vlahović, but are currently only observing his sitaution
Salary could be the sticking point
The reason why an extension for Vlahović at Juventus is as good as off the table at the moment is the salary he is asking for. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serbian striker is not asking for a pay rise, but Juve are apparently unable to continue paying his current salary of over €20 million
Should a move to Bayern become a reality, Vlahović would probably also have to compromise on his salary demands in Munich. While he is by far the highest earner at Juventus, he would probably have to take a much lower position at FCB
In any case, a decision will probably not be made until the summer, as Tuttomercato reports that Vlahovic first wants to negotiate a contract extension with Juve bosses in the summer. In the meantime, the option of moving to Bayern is on hold.
